Leigh Academy Langley Park, poised to be judged OUTSTANDING

Leigh Academies Trust is proud to announce that Leigh Academy Langley Park has received a highly positive outcome following its recent Ofsted inspection on 1st and 2nd April 2025. Inspectors recognised significant improvements across all areas, confirming that the academy is likely to be judged outstanding at its next graded inspection.

The inspection praised the academy’s strong values and aspirations, with inspectors noting: “The school has high aspirations, not just for academic achievements, but for personal success also.” Pupils were found to achieve well from their starting points, showing a strong sense of responsibility and inclusion towards each other and their environment.

Principal Sally Brading welcomed the report’s findings:

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, the hard work of our pupils, and the unwavering support from our families. We are committed to providing a high-quality education where every child feels valued, safe, and ambitious for their future.”

The report highlights the academy’s inclusive and ambitious culture. Inspectors praised pupils’ behaviour as calm, focused and respectful: “Pupils’ behaviour is calm in the classroom and around the school building. Pupils are astute and attend to their learning with enthusiasm.”

As an International Baccalaureate World School accredited to offer the Primary Years Programme, Leigh Academy Langley Park’s curriculum was described as well-constructed and meticulously mapped, with strong teaching approaches embedded across the school. Teachers were praised for using trust training effectively to build subject expertise, enabling pupils to develop deep knowledge over time.

The approach to early reading was also commended: “Staff deliver the school’s phonics and early reading curriculum effectively. They routinely check what pupils know and address any gaps because they have the relevant training and expertise.” Pupils’ books were well matched to their reading stage, helping them become fluent and confident readers.

The academy’s provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) was highlighted as a strength:
“The school is adept at identifying and understanding the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Pupils with SEND, including those who attend the specially resourced provision, are included in all aspects of the school.” Staff were praised for working closely with external experts and making appropriate adaptations to support all learners effectively.

The school’s commitment to personal development was also praised. Pupils benefit from a range of experiences that build confidence and resilience, including performances, sporting events, and exhibitions.

Safeguarding arrangements were described as effective, with pupils feeling safe, protected, and well cared for.
